Success …..Without Education

Education

Education is very important. Getting an education, going to school, is part of life. But,there are two sides to this topic.  There may be some people that don’t give as much respect to an illiterate person as they should. This is very sad. You can’t ignore the reality that most of the famous and popular people in history were not educated. They never completed their schooling but became the admirable personalities for the world. There’s a big list of the great heroes who were uneducated. But we must remember it’s a different world today than it was 100 or even 50 years ago.

Tertiary education gives knowledge but a part of becoming successful are your life experiences . The main aim is to supply students with a degree so that they can apply for a good job. Today’s basic concept behind getting education is sometimes limited. Parents force their children to pay attention to their studies for a few reasons. One, because without education they will face difficulties in their future life . So the basic and foremost purpose of getting an education is to gain a good job. We also must remember, discipline . That’s a big factor in moving forward.

So, lets look at history. This is where we find that most of the great personalities that are now considered heroes didn’t get the type of education which is offered nowadays. But they still got the name, fame, and a standard life.

So, how can we decide that schooling will give a safe future to our children ?

Practical education and broad thinking can make you a successful person even you don’t have a degree. Here I am going to mention some of the great personalities who got success without any formal education.

Richard Branson –  A businessman and investor. Mostly known for Virgin Airlines. He was no genius at school. He was once told he would either end up in prison or a millionaire. He left school at 16 and started a magazine. As we know, this was just the start.

William Shakespeare – The great poet and playwright. Everyone in the present age knows him and respects him for the marvelous work he delivered. His quotes are used nowadays and people find the solution of their problems in his sayings. He received no formal education, but now he is like a lamp in the dark for the students of the present age. It is really surprising.

Albert Einstein –  This man needs no introduction, the person who was awarded  for his excellent discoveries in the field of Physics. He was dropped from high school and later he tried to get admission into University but failed in the entrance test.Einstein_1440988004

Abraham Lincoln, sixteenth US President guided his nation during the tough time. He was not educated from any formal educational institute but got a lot of fame and now he is in the list of heroes of the American’s nation.

All these facts show that without any formal education one can have a successful life. For achieving fame and success, education is not compulsory. But the aim of giving these examples is that the institutions should broad the concept of education so that more heroes appear from this age.

Like most parents , I will be very happy if my children go on to Tertiary study. But, it’s entirely their choice what they want to do with their life, whether it be an Electrician , Doctor or Butcher. You should love and support your children in whatever they do. If you apply discipline throughout their childhood, they should reach the end of their school years with many options.

I totally agree tertiary education is not essential to success. However, a willingness to learn is certainly part of a successful life. Nowadays, a university degree does not guarantee a good job, much less a successful career, but a person’s interest in learning and willingness to work hard are the keys to achieving life goals.

Bryce, you make very good points. Higher education (or as you call it, Tertiary education) is not always necessary for success, and many people have made important contributions without earning a college degree. In fact, some people cannot adjust to the rigidity and demands of some universities. These creative people are better off attending an art school or a trade school, or apprenticing to a master. I think Einstein is one of the greatest examples of someone who could not adjust to school requirements, yet made some incredible contributions to math and science.

Thanks for this post! I hope many parents read it.
