Social Media allows us to connect with anyone, whether they are a friend, co-worker or someone on the other side of the world. Being a part of this can I guess make you feel connected. You can see what everyone is up to and also whats happening on the other side of the world. But, there is also a downside to this.
Social media may make it hard for some people to understand what kind of relationships they have with others. This is similar to the flash phones we have these days. I still believe it’s better to talk to someone than to go back and forth with text messages. In my opinion, TEXT MESSAGING IS NOT FOR CONVERSATION !!
Have you ever watched T.V shows such as “Catfish” . This is when people completely make up a new character or pretend they are someone else. There are instants where someone ends up dying. It’s a sick world we live in.
I recently watched “60 Minutes” where a man said Social Media is now messing up alot of information. The U.S Presidential elections were an example of this. One can make a post with completely incorrect information and tag people along with it.
Kids are especially vulnerable with cyber-bullying been a big issue. This can lead to mental illness. Lately the media have been talking how children’s mental health doesn’t get enough attention. This is probably correct, but like alot of things with children, I feel it comes back to parents. It’s up to us to look after our children. People seem to blame the government for any problems people have. Our kids are our responsibility.
Businesses now need to be involved in Social Media. All businesses should have the likes of a Facebook page. As long as those at work aren’t spending some time looking at their personal accounts, whether it is Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram. I wonder what will be the next thing out ?
I feel many people put far too much on Facebook. One example of this is how some post saying it’s one of their children’s birthday, or whatever has ever gone wrong at home. For example, a messed up baking session. We don’t need to know all this , do we…
Ones personal life should remain personal. A photo of a night on the town might seem harmless, but how is an employer or possible client going to feel about this. How would you feel if you saw images of your child’s teacher drinking / partying. Most likely not impressed.
My Facebook profile is pretty much business these days. I don’t post anything with regards to my wife and children. My personal life is my life. I keep those most important to me in my life to myself.
What about you ?
All The Best,
